GET FIT IN JUST 2×20 MINUTES A WEEK

Electro Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is an innovative training system using low-frequency electrical pulses. All major muscle groups are stimulated creating a complete muscle contraction. Achieving MAXIMUM RESULTS in just 20 MINUTES once a week, ensuring sessions are short, motivational and effective.

WHAT IS EMS TRAINING?

‘A TREATMENT AND TRAINING IN ONE’

EMS, short for Electric Muscle Stimulation, uses electrical impulses to create an involuntary muscle contraction and enhance your workout.

By training with XBody’s EMS Technology you can achieve the results of a 90 minute workout in only 20 minutes, guided by one of our friendly and knowledgable instructors.

DOES EMS WORK? OF COURSE IT DOES.

EMS Training is a scientifically backed, dynamic and powerful global movement and the UK fitness market is rapidly accepting this futuristic and time-efficient training solution as the new norm.

Integrating EMS into your existing fitness programme will deliver deeper, faster results in less time. Don’t be fooled though, EMS is not an easy or lazy solution. The intensity of the workout still feels like you’ve done a long session.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY...

  • Initially, I started doing EMS to lose some body fat, and in just a couple of sessions, I noticed other benefits like having more energy and the disappearance of back pain which was probably from lack of exercise.

    Michelle

  • I’ve been exercising for years and I’ve not seen results like I’ve achieved in just two months of training with EMS. I still enjoy running and swimming but this has visibly changed my body in ways that I wouldn’t have expected in such a short period of time.

    Charlotte

  • EMS training is now a regular part of my routine and the most notable difference it has made is the improvement in my performance on the golf course. I’m playing more regularly, with better stamina and hitting further.

  • DOES EMS WORK? AND HOW?
During any normal kind of movement, you’ve got three types of muscle fibres available to you: 1, 2a and 2b. Type 1 involves, for example, picking up a glass – you can do it all day and it’s more about endurance. Type 2a might be recruited if you were picking up a chair and moving it around (requiring a bit more strength and explosive power but also endurance). Type 2b would be recruited if you were picking up something heavy that you could only hold for a few seconds. The magic with the EMS technology is that it’s able to recruit type 2a and 2b muscle fibres without type 1s, just through the technology, because as soon as you add about 80 hertz and 350 millivolts of power, you’re activating these deep type 2b muscle fibres. Crucially, these 2b muscle fibres are what we need to train to build lean muscle tissue, which, in turn, improves metabolism. However, developing these fibres usually takes a lot of time, perhaps two to three months before you’re fit enough to train under that kind of load (lift those types of weights, run that fast, etc). What EMS means is that people who hate exercise can use XBody to reduce their time spent groaning, affect changes in their bodies they probably wouldn’t have been able to with conventional methods and get brilliant results. It can allow athletes to push very hard in a short timeframe and, at the other end of the spectrum, it can be used for rehabilitation (though if you’ve got a pacemaker, suffer from epilepsy or are pregnant you’re advised to avoid it entirely).
  • WHAT DO I WEAR TO DO EMS TRAINING?
Your EMS instructor will provide you with specific undergarments to wear beneath the EMS suit for your first sessions.
  • CAN YOU USE ELECTRIC MUSCLE STIMULATION (EMS) WHEN PREGNANT?
No, you should not do EMS whilst you are pregnant, or until your GP has said it is safe to start exercising again after having a baby.
  • WHAT IS ELECTRIC MUSCLE STIMULATION (EMS)?
EMS is the elicitation of muscle contraction using electric impulses. The impulses are generated by a device and delivered through electrodes to the skin surface above the muscles to be stimulated. The impulses cause the muscles to contract, so the result is similar to the actual movement and regular contractions of the muscles. Technically, EMS is a full-body workout with body current. Our muscles contract through electric impulses in a normal state. EMS Training makes use of this effect, the natural effect is additionally intensified and an effective training can be achieved. EMS Training is also known in competitive sport, rehabilitation and medicine as well as in wellness and beauty centers. Elite athletes use Electric Muscle Stimulation in addition to their training in order to improve strength and speed.
  • ARE THERE ANY MEDICAL OR HEALTH REASONS WHY I MIGHT NOT BE ALLOWED TO DO EMS TRAINING?
Yes. Before you start EMS, it is important you discuss any health issues you may have with your EMS Instructor and also read the instructors PARQ form to check if you have any contraindications. If in doubt always check with your GP first. If you’ve got a pacemaker, suffer from epilepsy or are pregnant you’re advised to avoid it entirely.
  • WILL ELECTRIC MUSCLE STIMULATION (EMS) HELP WITH BACK PAIN?
Yes EMS can help with back pain by increasing blood circulation to the muscles and increasing strength in the core area in a low impact, joint friendly way. Check out some stories on our blog about people who have experienced good results.
  • DOES ELECTRIC MUSCLE STIMULATION (EMS) HURT?
No, EMS does not hurt. You may have some muscle soreness or stiffness one or two days after EMS training similar to what you might expect after a workout.
  • IS ELECTRIC MUSCLE STIMULATION (EMS) SAFE?
Yes. The low-frequency impulses only affect the striated skeletal muscles, which means it can’t reach the organs or the heart.
  • WHO IS EMS TRAINING NOT SUITABLE FOR?
Individuals with implanted or external medical device (e.g. cardiac pacemaker, implanted defibrillator) Individuals with severe cardiovascular diseases (e.g. severe heart or aortic disease). Individuals with severe neurological disorder. Individuals with medication-controlled or medication-uncontrolled seizures or convulsions (e.g. epilepsy). Individuals with severe neuromuscular disorder (e.g. rhabdomyolysis or any disorder that affects the nervous system and the muscles and causes rapid breakdown in muscle structure). Individuals with cancerous lesions (e.g. breast cancer). Individuals with severe nephrological disease. Individuals with existence or a tendency of internal bleeding. Individuals with non-intact skin (e.g. infected, wounded or any non-healthy, inflamed, irritated or oedematous skin area). Individuals during pregnancy or suspected pregnancy.
  • IS EMS TRAINING SAFE WITH COVID19?
We provide 1:1 training, or pair training (1:2) with family members of same household, no busy gyms. Wireless EMS training allows maximum social distancing to be maintained. thanks to our advanced wireless technology. Our Hygiene Protocol Utilises a sanitizing spray of around 70% ethanol. These products kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. Designed specifically for fabric in our suits and has been cleared by relevant Agencies (for example as the EPA in the USA to work against Coronaviruses.
